Advancing Mass Timber Research through Collaboration

December 15, 2022

In March of 2021, Odeh Engineers announced our commitment to advancing the state of design and construction of timber structures, by joining REACTS. REACTS stands for Research on Engineering, Architecture, and Construction of Timber Structures. This research consortium brings together experts from industry, academia, manufacturing, and government agencies to fund and guide research specific to design and construction of mass timber structures.

This past October, Technical Director Davide Giannuzzi and Project Director Paul Kuehnel traveled to Oregon State University to visit the Tall Wood Design Institute (TDI) and meet with other members of the REACTS Consortium. While the majority of our meetings occur virtually, twice a year the consortium holds in person meetings to discuss our milestones of the previous year and chart out the direction for advancing research over the year ahead. In two jam packed days, our team was able tour the research facilities at OSU, attend the Mass Timber Research Symposium organized by TDI, and meet with our REACTS colleagues.

At Odeh Engineers we are extremely excited about the year ahead with REACTS. Through our membership in this consortium we are able to guide, implement, and inform research and development interests with a quick turn around to make the greatest impact on our projects. We are proud to be collaborating with our other mass timber expert peers and look forward to sharing more throughout the year.
