This new six-story residence hall houses 148 students and incorporates exposed cross-laminated timber (CLT) slabs supported by structural steel framing in order to achieve the client’s lofty goals of beautiful design, environmental sustainability, and an aggressive construction schedule. The building was erected in only three weeks, exceeding initial expectations. This residence hall is the first hybrid CLT-steel frame of its kind in New England.
